Conference: Predators and Invasive Species – A Threat or a Business Opportunity

In collaboration with the Estonian Ministry of Regional Affairs and Agriculture, Eurofish is organising an international conference on Predators and Invasive Species – A Threat or a Business Opportunity, in Tallinn, Estonia, on June 17–18, 2025.

The objective of event is to explore the use of invasive and predator species for commercial purposes and to highlight the risks that certain species represent to the ecosystem and the fisheries and aquaculture sector. Cormorants, seals, blue crabs, signal crayfish, round goby, Chinese carp, king crab, jellyfish, and the Black Sea snail Rapana venosa will be covered in the presentations.

BlueInvest E-Pitching on Energy Transition in EU Aquaculture and Fisheries sectors

The BlueInvest E-Pitching Session will showcase five innovative projects focused on the energy transition within the EU aquaculture and fisheries sectors.

Small to medium-sized businesses (SME) or start-ups situated in the EU with an innovative product, technology, or solution supporting the energy transition in the aquaculture and fisheries sectors that are looking for investors or funding for their project are invited to fill out the form at EUSurvey – Surve, for an opportunity to pitch their idea to a panel of potential investors.

Selected participants will receive support from BlueInvest to prepare for their pitch.

EUMOFA Talk at European Maritime Day (23 May) – Driving Innovation in the Blue Bioeconomy: Algae

EUMOFA, in collaboration with the EU4Algae project, is organizing the workshop “Driving Innovation in the Blue Bioeconomy: Algae”, which will take place in person on May 23, 2025, at the European Maritime Day in Cork, Ireland.

Key data and trends from the EUMOFA Blue Bioeconomy Report will be discussed during the event, with a focus on the role of algae in the development of the regenerative blue bioeconomy. The workshop will highlight the synergies among EU-funded algae projects, outlining their main results and future activities. Additionally, the event will facilitate networking and cooperation amongst industrial, academic, policy and related sectors stakeholders.

Seagriculture EU 2025

The 14th edition of the international seaweed conference Seagriculture EU will take place on 17-19 June 2025, in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

The Seagriculture conference has built up a strong reputation as the leading conference for the seaweed sector, having been successfully held in Europe since 2012. The previous edition of the event took place in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands, attracting a record 224 delegates from 25 countries.

Seagriculture EU 2025 will feature top speakers, sharing their expertise on seaweed for feed, food, offshore farming, biorefinery of seaweed and other topics.

Financing Opportunity for Aquaculture Products Processing – Romania

The General Department for Fisheries – Managing Authority for the Operational Programme for Fisheries and Maritime Affairs (Romania) has launched a session for submitting applications under the Aquaculture and Fisheries Programme 2021-2027, Priority 2: Fostering sustainable aquaculture activities and processing and marketing of fishery and aquaculture products, thus contributing to food security in the Union, Specific objective 2.2. – Promoting marketing, quality and added value of fishery and aquaculture products, as well as processing of those products, Action 2.2.1 – Processing of Fishery and Aquaculture Products.

Deadline for submission: 23.05.2025, 17:00.

Total financial allocation for this call: 51,980,381.87 lei, equivalent to 10,443,280.00 euros.

Maximum eligible value for one project is 14,932,200.00 lei (equivalent to 3,000,000.00 euros.

The General Department for Fisheries – Managing Authority for the Operational Programme for Fisheries and Maritime Affairs (Romania) has launched a session for submitting applications under the Aquaculture and Fisheries Programme 2021-2027, Priority 2: Fostering sustainable aquaculture activities and processing and marketing of fishery and aquaculture products, thus contributing to food security in the Union, Specific objective 2.1. – Promoting sustainable aquaculture activities, especially strengthening the competitiveness of aquaculture production, while ensuring that the activities are environmentally sustainable in the long term, Action 2.1.1 – Investments in Aquaculture.

Deadline for submission: 23.05.2025, 17:00.

Total financial allocation for this call: 317,707,292.67 lei, equivalent to 63,829,970 euros.

Maximum eligible value for one project is 29,864,400.00 lei (equivalent to 6,000,000.00 euros.
