BLUE GROWTH: CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE BLACK SEA

The 1st International Joint Conference Blue Growth: Challenges and Opportunities for the Black Sea, organized under the auspices of the National Commission of Romania for UNESCO will take place in Constanta, during 26-28th October, 2022.

The Conference aims to contribute to the protection of the Black Sea by supporting the sustainable development in a multi-disciplinary way. The event will focus on aspects related to both fundamental research and technological innovations, between scientists as well as companies involved in research and development.

Aquaculture will be covered during Session III: Sustainable Use of Marine Resources.

Aquaculture Europe 2022

During 27-30 September, 2022, the annual Aquaculture Europe event, organised by the European Aquaculture Society, will take place in Rimini, Italy.

The main themes for the Aquaculture Europe 2022 event are the challenges aquaculture is facing and the solutions put in place to develop a sustainable, responsible and productive and climate neutral European aquaculture sector for key marine and freshwater fish, shellfish and algal species.

The event will also feature an international trade exhibition, industry forum, student sessions and activities, satellite workshops and updates on EU research.

Turkey: Increase of National Fisheries Production

According to the Turkey Statistical Institute, the total national fishery production recorded a 1.8% increase from 2020 to 2021.

The main factor for the increase of the fishery products was aquaculture, which registered an increase of 11.9%.

Out of the total amount of 799,851 tons of fishery products in 2021, 59% were farmed.
