The General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) published a document presenting the guidelines in support of social acceptability for sustainable aquaculture development.
The publication aims to provide Mediterranean and Black Sea countries with recommendations for improving the social acceptability and sustainable development of the aquaculture sector, identifying the governance, environmental, economic, social and ethical aspects that could influence the social acceptability of aquaculture in the region.

An abandoned 18th century aquaculture farm in Tuscany, Italy, was restored with the help of EU funding.
The farm is producing both local and threatened species for ecosystem restoration, such as the Apenine trout (Salmo trutta fario), as well as the production of Rainbow trout for transformation and development of short chain food circuits.
The Aquaculture Advisory Council (AAC) has published a recommendation on the circularity of fish feed to the European Commission, the EU Member States and the fish feed producers.

The 2nd International Conference on Aquaculture and Fisheries will take place from August 09-10, 2023 in Paris, France.
The conference, organized on the theme “Uncovering innovative technologies for better outcomes in aquaculture and fisheries“, will feature quick presentations, oral lectures, poster presentations and exhibits.

The 6th International Carp Conference will take place during 31 August- 1 September 2023 in Szarvas, Hungary.

In the framework of the Seafood Expo Global in Barcelona, on 27 April 2023, EUMOFA held an event (EUMOFA Talk) on the theme “Farming in water: strategies to ensure social acceptance and meet demand for high quality food through sustainable aquaculture”.
